We have just completed the first Fall PAQA retreat. A small and cozy group; though we fell just short of the number anticipated, we consider the event a success in every way. In fact, I enjoyed the smallness as I was able to learn everyone's name (almost) and had a chance to talk to each one. Kathleen and I received a number of very enthusiastic responses to the retreat. The location was beautiful as always, the food better than I remembered (different chef), still salt free but a shaker on every table and imaginative cuisine. I am going to copy one casserole in my own kitchen and several dessert recipes were shared by the baker as well.
The 3 demo/workshops were well received. It was reported that some members now hear my comments on photography as they aim their cameras. A couple of participants for Roberta's felting techniques showed real talent; all of us enjoyed experimenting. The workroom was awash in wet fabric and the occasional colored drip/drop from Jo Ann's painting on fabric. She seemed to have moved her whole studio to the Siena Center for our experiment and use. There were some who worked assiduously on their own projects and made considerable progress. I think we all went home inspired and with a feeling of accomplishment.
